Hamburg @ SuCo11 – Special Social Programme

In order to get a glimpse of Hamburg’s special commitment to sustainability we offered the following tours outside the conference’s programme:

Tour "Hamburg European Green Capital 2011" (2h walking tour through the city; sponsored for SuCo11 by the Hamburg Ministry for Urban Development and Environment)

Tour "Landgang" (best practices in sustainable urban development and climate adaption in the newly built district Hafencity)

The International Building Exhibition (IBA 2013) (sustainable urban development in an existing district shown through examples such as the conversion of a former toxic waste dump to the “energy hill”, the plan of converting a former WWII Bunker to an “energy bunker”, etc.)

The Hamburg Miniatur Wunderland the largest model railway in the world and its focus on sustainability)

"Green Aviation", site visit to Hamburg Airport (measures on CO2-reduction)
